Recreational Drugs vs. Prescription Drugs

I am pretty much anti-drug company and anti-prescription drug in general. I think there are a many health alternatives to explore before going the medication route. That being said, I do believe that there are cases where prescription medication is necessary and helpful. I just don’t think it should be our medical system’s first choice in the fight against all illnesses.

This is not to suggest that I support the recreational use of drugs. It’s just an interesting perspective to think that prescribed drugs kill far more people per year than recreational drugs; and we are all ok with it this, because it is legal!?!?!

And how do we cut down on the use of recreational drug use when we are teaching kids that popping pills is no big deal. From the article:

The desire to solve problems by taking drugs is a product of our culture. When a child is taught by loving parents that the appropriate response to pain or discomfort is taking a pill, it is obvious that such a child, when faced with the challenges of adolescence, will seek comfort by taking drugs.

Read through this article from Mercola.com. It is a very interesting take on what the drug war in this country should really be about.
